Family and Consumer Sciences Education Bachelor's Degree

The Family and Consumer Sciences licensure program in the College of Health and Human Sciences is a teaching licensure program approved by the Kansas State Board of Education. Students can take all of their courses from Kansas State University or take some of their family and consumer sciences courses online from other institutions.

Family and consumer sciences education students are enrolled in the bachelor of science program in the College of Health and Human Sciences for the duration of their undergraduate work, but completion of the program is dependent upon their admission to teacher education in the College of Education.

Students are recommended for a Kansas Family and Consumer Sciences Teaching License when they have:

  • Completed all of the family and consumer sciences licensure requirements (pdf)
  • Successfully completed the Principles of Learning and Teaching Test
  • Successfully completed the PRAXIS II content assessment test for FCS
  • Submitted the application to the K-State College of Education licensing officer in 013 Bluemont Hall one month before graduation from Kansas State University
