Knowledge

Upon graduation from our program, students will be able to:

  • Use theoretical frameworks to understand and explain human development, internal family process and the interaction of individuals and families with society.
  • Understand and apply empirically based information relevant to the discipline of human development and family science.

Critical Thinking

Upon graduation from our program, students will be able to use critical thinking skills to solve problems or understand complex issues in our discipline. 

Communication (Oral and Written)

Upon graduation from our program, students will be able to effectively communicate family and developmental research to diverse audiences.

Diversity

Upon graduation from our program, students will be able to:

  • Recognize and respect a diversity of family forms and processes.
  • Understand how human development and family interactions are shaped by diverse personal contexts and cultures.
  • Understand and be aware of one’s own biases, beliefs, and values.
