School of Consumer Sciences
Students in the School of Consumer Sciences will receive a unique, hands-on learning experience through our programs in fashion studies, hospitality management, personal financial planning and sensory sciences.

The School of Consumer Sciences transforms lives through education, scholarship and community engagement in consumer-focused business disciplines. Through the event and hospitality management, fashion studies, personal financial planning and sensory sciences programs, we prepare learners to live meaningful lives that have a sustainable impact on the well-being of individuals, families and communities.
While at K-State, all of the students in the School of Consumer Sciences will gain hands-on experience through an internship, preparing them with the experiential learning needed to prepare to succeed in their desired careers. Our graduates leave K-State prepared to impact through careers such as financial planner, technical designer, resort manager, wealth advisor, merchandiser and event director.

The event and hospitality management program is committed to preparing the next generation of hospitality leaders for a successful career in industry or academia. Students focus on all aspects of the industry, including food and beverage management, lodging management, and meeting and event management.

Fashion studies students focus on human well-being related to the human need for clothing and textile products. Our students can choose to specialize in fashion design or fashion business and are given the aesthetic, practical, technical, professional and intellectual skills needed for a variety of roles.

Personal financial planning students are prepared to help individuals and families meet their financial goals. Students will tackle quantitative courses in retirement planning, investment planning, tax planning, insurance planning, and estate planning, as well as courses focused on learning how to understand and help people.
