Professional Biography

Joy M. Robbins received her bachelor's and master's degrees in apparel and textile marketing, with a minor in business administration, from Kansas State University. Dr. Robbins graduated with a doctorate in textiles and clothing with a minor in gerontology from Iowa State University. She was a faculty member in the Fashion Merchandising program in the College of Business at the University of Southern Mississippi prior to returning to K-State as a faculty member in the Fashion Studies program. She has experience teaching a variety of subject matters, including apparel and textile marketing, entrepreneurship, merchandise buying and mathematics, assortment, and financial planning, visual merchandising, globalization and supply chain management, consumer behavior, fashion forecasting, and fashion history. Dr. Robbins supervises the professional development course and oversees students' internship experiences and has led study tours to Dallas, Texas, New York, New York, and China, where she has taught courses to Chinese students at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University in Hangzhou, China. Dr. Robbins oversees the Fashion Studies Professional Advisory Board and currently resides in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, teaching her courses synchronously online.
