Apparel students donate to Crisis Center

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Students learned art of giving and garment construction.

Students in Marla Day's apparel production class constructed and donated 73 infant gowns and 15 infant blankets to The Crisis Center recently. This is the second year they have given their time and talents to the cause.

The center serves victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault in Riley, Clay, Geary, Marshall and Pottawatomie counties.

Accepting the gift was Gabriele Neal (above second from right) who said, “Many women come to the shelter with nothing. Something new for the babies is especially appropriate.”

The center offers 24-hour hotlines, safe shelter and support groups and counseling.
