Cathy Lacy to give commencement address

Cathy Lacy, a 1979 graduate in dietetics and institutional management, will be the 2013 fall commencement speaker for the College of Human Ecology at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Bramlage Coliseum.

A registered dietitian, Lacy served as director of health promotion and wellness programs for Iowa Lutheran Hospital, a hospital clinical dietitian, director of a physician referral service and national sales representative for a food corporation.

An active leader in a number of community and educational institutions and is currently on the board of trustees of the KSU Foundation and of Drake University where she earned a master’s degree in public administration in 1986.

She is a member of the KSU Foundation's President's Club, a philanthropic leadership organization for friends and alumni of Kansas State University, and the Land Grant Legacy Society.

She has served on several boards that champion education and support youth, including United Way, Women’s Leadership Connection, Holy Family Inner City Youth Foundation, the Blank Park Zoo Foundation Board and two school boards of education.

She and her husband, Stephen Lacy, a K-State graduate, have two children and live in Des Moines, Iowa.
