Sanford to be student commencement speaker

Rutherford N. Sanford IV was selected as the student commencement speaker at the College of Human Ecology graduation ceremonies at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Bramlage Coliseum.

Sanford will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel and restaurant management.

He was an intern at Walt Disney World Resorts Animal Kingdom Lodge in 2010 and has been campus representative for the organization for two years. He works as banquet lead at Hilton Garden Inn and Manhattan Convention Center. He has also been lead caller for the Kansas State University Foundation and a chair for the 2013 Big XII Conference on Black Student Government.

After graduation, Sanford will manage YaYa’s Euro Bistro in Overland Park. He is from Houston.
