Sauer elected chair of dietetic registration commission

Kevin Sauer, associate professor of dietetics, has been elected chairman of the influential Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Kevin SauerSauer, a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), teaches administrative dietetics courses in the Department of Hospitality Management and Dietetics, College of Human Ecology. He is on the leadership team for the Center of Excellence for Food Safety Research in Child Nutrition Programs.

His areas of research include food safety, food allergies and other management aspects of dietetics practice.

The Commission on Dietetic Registration is the credentialing agency for the academy and administers the examinations and continuing education.

More than 97,000 dietitians and dietetic technicians across the country and the world have taken CDR exams over the past several decades. CDR currently awards seven separate and distinct credentials for dietetics professionals, including the RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) and NDTR (Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered).

The academy is the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals with more than 70,000 members.
