Samantha Claassen, a graduating senior in nutritional sciences and dietetics, has been selected to represent her follow graduates at College of Human Ecology commencement at 4:30 p.m. May 16 in Bramlage Coliseum on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan.
Claassen, the daughter of Kim and Debbie Claassen of Whitewater, Kan., has been accepted into the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she is part of the Scholars in Rural Health program. She plans to practice family medicine in a rural Kansas community.
She has been a teaching assistant in human nutrition and organic chemistry and a Wildcat Wellness coach. She is a member of Mortar Board Senior Honor Society and is active with the Student Dietetic Association. For three years she served as a College of Human Ecology ambassador.
"My fellow graduates and I have been building ourselves into educated professionals who can give back to our communities, nations and world," she said. "The process took hard work, time and constant problem-solving... and the faculty members, fellow students and mentors who lent us a hand."
