Dennis Hulsing chosen as winter commencement speaker for College of Human Ecology

Dennis Hulsing, president and CEO of Hulsing Enterprises, will be the speaker at commencement ceremonies for the College of Human Ecology at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in Bramlage Coliseum on the Kansas State University campus.
Nearly 190 seniors are candidates for graduation.
Hulsing, who graduated from K-State with a degree in business administration, received the Friend of the College award from Human Ecology last year. He has endowed the Hulsing College of Human Ecology Excellence in Student Mentoring Award which will go each year to a faculty member who excelled at mentoring an undergraduate or graduate student in leadership, research and/or service.
He is a member of the college advisory board, served on the hospitality management advisory board, established the Hulsing Hotels Scholarship, and developed an internship program to help develop the next generation of K-State graduates.
The speaker, who graduated from K-State with a degree in business administration, built his company with hard work and a passion for business development. A group of Hulsing Hotels has expanded into 27 businesses in the Southeast and Midwest: nine hotels and resorts, three durable medical equipment companies, a sleep lab, two golf and tennis clubs, two residential development companies, three real estate investment companies, two grocery stores, a spa, zipline, mountain bike park, plus a treetop adventure center.
Previously he was senior vice president of Omni Hotels.
From Topeka, he lives in Asheville, N.C., where his business is headquartered.
