Jichul Jang earns Best Paper Award

Jichul Jang, assistant professor in the department of hospitality management, received a Best Paper Award at the 8th International Conference on Service Management recently in Washington D.C.

Jang presented “A multi-level investigation of relationships among servant leadership and customer service: A moderated mediated model of employee engagement and self-efficacy."

His research looked at how a restaurant manager’s leadership behaviors can enhance employee engagement, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.

Because it is an emerging form of leadership, servant leadership has received considerable research attention; however, few studies have focused on servant leadership in the hospitality industry, he said.

Mortar Board honors Behnke

Brad Benhke, associate professor of exercise physiology in the Department of Kinesiology, has received a 2015-2016 Faculty Recognition Award from Mortar Board.

Each year the senior honor society honors several faculty members for their outstanding achievements in teaching, advising or mentoring. Behnke's research examines how moderate exercise can make radiation treatments for cancer patients more effective, especially for difficult-to-treat tumors.

DOD honors Poole

David Poole, professor of exercise physiology, received the Focused Program Award of the Department of Defense for Cardiovascular Health, a peer reviewed medical research program.

Poole directs the Cardiorespiratory Exercise Lab in the Department of Kinesiology and conducts research on cardiorespiratory disease, respiration, microcirculation and structure and function of the diaphragm.
