She is a mentor in the college’s Professional Mentoring Program in addition to teaching, training and mentoring for Walmart US and international divisions. As a student she completed internships in Taiwan and England.

Vanessa BowenOur student commencement speaker is Vanessa Bowen, a graduating senior in kinesiology with a focus on exercise behavior science and recipient of a certificate in Professional Strategic Sales. She has served on the Kinesiology Student Advisory Board and is a member of Delta Delta Delta, serving on officers council, as social chair, intramural chair and recruitment guide for formal recruitment. On campus, Bowen has worked as a public health research assistant analyzing physical activity and a building supervisor with Recreational Services, overseeing 90 student staff members at the Rec Complex. She plans on pursuing a master's in public health at the University of San Francisco. Bowen is from Santa Rosa, California.

Bowen was chosen as the student commencement speaker because she is passionate about the College of Human Ecology. She sees a college filled with individuals looking to go out into the world and help others, herself among them.

The College of Human Ecology will honor our student commencement speaker and 21 graduating seniors May 13 at the Graduation Honors and Student Award Celebration in the Kansas State Student Union.
