College of Human Ecology recognizes outstanding seniors

The College of Human Ecology is proud to recognize the 2018 Fall Commencement outstanding senior award winners. This year’s outstanding senior award winners were nominated by faculty and staff within each of their respective programs.

Three different award categories are available. The Engagement Award is given to a graduating senior(s) who has made exemplary contributions that impact the well-being of the community or individuals in the community. The Leadership Award is given to a graduating senior(s) who has exhibited excellence in leadership; recognized for their contributions to the campus, college, program and professional organizations. The Outstanding Research/Creative Activity award is given to a graduating senior(s) whose research or creative activity has made a significant contribution to his or her field of study.

Winners of the Engagement Award:

Tara Ackerman, human development and family science, Fairfax,Virginia; Lily Anderson, human development and family science, Overland Park, Kansas; Julia Lambert, dietetics and kinesiology, Manhattan, Kansas; and Alexandra Maynard, communication sciences and disorders, Overland Park, Kansas.

Winners of the Leadership Award:

Gabrielle Ciccarelli, nutritional sciences, Overland Park, Kansas; Abbie Herkelman, dietetics, Coffeyville, Kansas; Jaci Kolm, human development and family science, Pratt, Kansas; Mary Morrissey, kinesiology, Topeka, Kansas; Darah Portenier, communication sciences and disorders, Kirwin, Kansas; Jennifer Rabung, dietetics, Mechanicsville, Virginia; and Landon Warmund, personal financial planning, Grain Valley, Missouri.

Winners of the Research/Creative Activity Award:

Emily Andrews, apparel and textiles, Manhattan, Kansas; Sarah Hansen, nutrition and health and dietetics, Wichita, Kansas; Kristen Krueger, human development and family science, Clive, Iowa; Garrett Lovoy, kinesiology, Topeka, Kansas; and Lauren Studer, communication sciences and disorders, Wathena, Kansas.

Seniors will be presented their awards at the annual Graduation Honors and Student Awards celebration on Friday, December 7 in the K-State Student Union.
