Financial Counseling Minor

Financial counseling is a growing field in and of itself, but is also increasingly being employed by allied professionals in human service fields. Find more information on career opportunities in the right-hand column. The Financial Counseling Minor provides students with an overview of the content needed to serve as a financial counselor. This minor satisfies the educational requirements for students who want to earn the Accredited Financial Counselor® designation.

Program Requirements

Fifteen credits - twelve hours of core content and three hours of specified electives - are required to complete the Financial Counseling Minor. At least nine credit hours must be completed at Kansas State University. Students must achieve a cumulative 2.50 GPA in the courses counting toward their minor to complete the program.

Enrolling in the Minor

There are no entrance requirements to enroll in the minor. However, several of the individual courses do require a minimum of a 2.5 GPA as part of their prerequisites. You can enroll either through our online form or by visiting Tierra Dimond (Justin 343J) or Jill Parker (Justin 343E) to complete the paper form in person.
