Application Information

Admissions to the PhD in Sustainable Fashion Business program at K-State is processed through Kansas State University's Graduate School. Below are links to assist your application process as well as additional information to clarify expectations.

Be aware that international students have specific application deadlines and requirements (i.e., English Proficiency test, and Affidavit of Support form).
All applicants are required to prepare a Personal Statement. As part of the statement, discuss your reasons or motivations for pursuing a graduate degree in the Fashion Studies program at Kansas State University, including how the program will contribute to your career goals and aspirations. Applicants to the Sustainable Fashion Business MS or PhD programs should also outline specific research interests and identify the graduate faculty members in our department most closely aligned with your scholarly interests and could possibly supervise your thesis or dissertation research.
The application system allows you to upload a portfolio. This is not required, however if desired you may upload samples of your work to supplement your application materials.

Review by Graduate Faculty

Applications are reviewed after they are complete in the online application system and the application fee has been paid. IDFS graduate faculty review applications and decide whether to recommend admission at monthly graduate program meetings. It is advised that applicants contact graduate faculty members prior to applying to ensure there is a match between the applicants’ research interests and faculty expertise. If admission is recommended by the IDFS graduate faculty, the Graduate School conducts a final review. In the event the faculty decide against admission, the applicant is notified by letter sent via email.

Assistantships and Scholarships

Graduate Assistants
The department has limited funding to support Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) and Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs). If you are interested in applying for educational support funding, please visit CollegeNET for assistantship opportunities and application.

Assistantship applications are due January 8th with a decision announced by March 15th.

Scholarships
Some non-service scholarship funding is awarded. This application will allow your name to be considered for any scholarship for which you qualify.
