Facilities and Technology
K-State’s PA program is housed in the Mary and Carl Ice Hall. Ice Hall provides 10,000 square feet of training space. The PA unit includes a simulation center with both high fidelity simulators and standardized patients to allow for competency-based training and assessment. This simulation center allows K-State faculty advanced training in the utilization of simulation in medical education, and students’ access to the most up-to-date technology.
The PA program incorporates cutting-edge technology throughout the curriculum including the Anatomage table. Every student will be able to access textbooks, medical references and other helpful resources online through the Hale library. The entire facility is equipped with Wi-Fi to keep students connected.
Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Virtual Cadaveric Dissection
K-State utilizes the state-of-the-art Anatomage table to provide foundational knowledge in human anatomy and physiology correlated to radiology. This virtual dissection table includes identifying structures seen in cross-sectional anatomy, x-ray, CT or MRI slice data, pathologies or abnormalities, anatomical variations, fractures, and cardiovascular diseases. The program will utilize two Anatomage tables, one upright, and the other supine, for the anatomy and physiology and radiology courses, providing students a fully interactive, life-sized touch screen experience in operatory bed form. Anatomage tables allow students to virtually dissect through multiple layers of the human body, as cadavers and in radiographic detail.
