Our Programs

The field of public health focuses on the prevention of injury and disease, rather than treatment, to improve the quality of life at the population level. Our programs are offered on-campus as well as through K-State Online. Be sure to also visit the MPH website for more detailed information on these emphases and the MPH program requirements.

** The Program of Public Health at Kansas State University is undergoing a review by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for re-accreditation. Part of this process includes the provision of a third-party comment period, which allows anyone, including students, alumni, faculty, staff, community and practice partners, and members of the public, to share relevant information about the program directly with CEPH. Public Health Physical Activity emphasis

The curriculum focuses on the use of social and behavioral theories and frameworks to examine physical activity from a public health perspective. Particular interest is placed on evaluating physical activity programs in community settings.

The curriculum prepares professionals in physical activity promotion research and evidence-based practice. Courses examine the psychological as well as social and environmental factors associated with initiating and/or adhering to exercise programs and physically active lifestyles.

Public Health Nutrition emphasis

The Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree Public Health Nutrition emphasis focuses on the interaction between nutrition and health and the application of sound nutritional principles to promote healthy living. Curriculum topics include: nutritional epidemiology, nutrition and physical activity, obesity, and the communication of nutrition messages to at-risk populations.
