Professional Biography

Dr. Congrong Ouyang, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University. With an unwavering commitment to the field, she imparts her knowledge to both undergraduate and doctoral students, specializing in courses that delve into financial planning, research methodologies, and the utilization of statistical software for cutting-edge financial planning research.

Dr. Ouyang holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) with a focus on Accounting, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Consumer Sciences, and ultimately achieving a Ph.D. in Consumer Science. These academic accolades were attained at the prestigious Ohio State University.

During the course of her doctoral program, Dr. Ouyang developed her expertise in quantitative research, particularly in the realm of financial well-being concerning borrowing and household economics. She applies various statistical methodologies with the integration of extensive survey and administrative data, to advance our understanding of these critical financial aspects. This year, Dr. Ouyang serves on the Editorial Board of the Financial Planning Review and grant reviewing committee for the Kansas State University Small Research Grant program.

Dr. Ouyang's prolific research pursuits are focused on multifaceted dimensions within the realm of personal finance. Her interests encompass financial obligations, financial well-being, wealth management, and the critical area of diversity, equity, and inclusion within financial planning. She has published journal articles in high-quality peer-reviewed family science and financial planning journals.
