The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Education program at Kansas State University is a partnership between the College of Health and Human Sciences and the College of Education. To complete this degree, you will enroll in the Integrative Human Sciences major in the College of Health and Human Sciences. You work with your advisor to complete the requirements for admission into the teacher education program at Kansas State University, and the coursework needed to become a licensed teacher in the State of Kansas.

Graduates from this program are in high demand as middle and high school Family and Consumer Sciences Education teachers. Our program currently has a 100% job placement rate.

With a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, you will:

  • Earn licensure to teach family and consumer sciences at the middle and senior high levels in the state of Kansas
  • Directly address the needs of individuals and families related to healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition and food decisions, food science, human development and relations, consumer practices, textiles and apparel choices, balancing family and work, and general employability skills;
  • Join a people centered profession: the program emphasizes life literacy, problem-solving skills, and career pathway strategies needed to be a responsible and productive individual, family member, and employee.
