Amber is currently serving as the Program Manager for the Food Safety and Lodging Program at the Kansas Department of Agriculture. This regulatory program licenses and inspects over 17,000 food establishments, food processing and storage facilities, lodging establishments, and produce farms in the state of Kansas, with the aim to protect public health while growing and educating the industry in Kansas.
Amber studied at K-State, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in hotel and restaurant management and a Master of Science in foodservice, hospitality hanagement and administrative dietetics. Amber has been admitted to candidacy for a doctoral program in human ccology with specialization in hospitality administration and is currently working on her dissertation.
Amber gained her passion for food safety as a graduate student, working at the Center for Food Safety in Child Nutrition Programs. Amber used her school nutrition experience while serving as the School Foodservice Director at St. Peter Catholic School, in the Wichita area.
Amber returned to Manhattan, where she has enjoyed her experience working at K-State in Housing and Dining Services and teaching undergraduate courses, prior to her current role. In her free time, Amber enjoys golfing, traveling, and attending K-State games with her husband and three children.
