The K-State Speech and Hearing Center was established in 1956 as part of the Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD).

The goal of the CSD program is to graduate clinicians who are competent to help children and adults with difficulties in any aspect of oral and written communication or swallowing. The clinic area includes seven therapy rooms designed to accommodate individual sessions and small group service delivery with observation space in adjacent rooms. In addition, there is a "therapeutic kitchen" for functional activities of daily living. All therapy rooms are equipped with audio and video digital recording systems to enhance clinical learning.
