Lauren Koepp
studioSIX5
Interior Designer
In 2013 Lauren graduated from the interior design program with a secondary degree in gerontology. She continued pursuing her passion for design and helping older adults by accepting an entry-level designer position with studioSIX5, an interior design firm in Austin, Texas. Studiosix5 focuses on the senior living industry and works with architectural firms on projects all over the United States that range from small assisted living and memory care communities to big CCRCs (Continuing Care Retirement Communities).
Though still a young designer, her educational background achieved through K-State's program prepared her with valuable skills that have led to her success in a very active industry. Additionally, her firm has a very strong mentoring team dynamic, so her daily job is an enriching one that expands her skills. Her responsibilities include finish, lighting and furniture selections, client presentations, team coordination with outside firms and other industry fabricators, and communicating her designs graphically.
She is looking forward to seeing her first professionally designed projects built and lived in by residents. Her future plans include becoming a registered interior designer in Texas, becoming a LEED Green Associate, and to continue to find innovative ways to improve the built environment for older adults.
