Student Organizations

The Department of Hospitality Management and College of Health and Human Sciences student organizations and interest groups provide opportunities for experiential learning, networking, national and international competitions, travel, volunteer experiences, mentoring experiences, social events, friendships and fun.

The student organizations organized and overseen by the Department of Hospitality Management are listed below.

Eta Sigma Delta Honorary Society (ESD)

An international honor society for students with an excellent academic record in the hospitality and tourism industry, Eta Sigma Delta invites juniors and seniors who have a GPA of at least 3.0 or who are in the top 20 percent of their class to apply. Members have opportunities to distinguish themselves in the eyes of educators, recruiters and industry executives in an increasingly competitive industry. Students receive networking benefits between ESD societies at more than 60 other chapters. Contact Jichul Jang, ESD advisor, for more information.

The Hospitality Management Club (HMC)

The Hospitality Management Club (HMC) is a student club that combines the talents and energy of business-minded individuals who are passionate about customer service and ready to serve and embrace the myriad of opportunities available in this ever-changing world of hospitality. The mission of this organization is to provide students with the opportunity to learn firsthand about issues and opportunities in the hospitality industry and its related fields and to assist in networking and personal development. Within the structure of HMC, each member will not only be part of the student group, but will be a member of a national hospitality organization of their choice to further their interests in specific national hospitality organizations.
