Professional Biography

Dr. Sherry Haar received bachelor and master degrees at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and a doctorate at Virginia Tech. Dr. Haar's current scholarship involves ecological and sustainable design with a focus on natural dyes encompassing textile design practice and scientific evaluation. Dr. Haar has received numerous awards for her design scholarship and holds two patents on therapeutic designs for children with sensory dysfunctions.

Dr. Haar's teaching and research has been recognized with teaching, student development, and research awards. Course topics currently instructed by Dr. Haar include fashion rendering, computer aided design, pattern development, textile surface design and fashion show production.
