Sawyer Hunt '21

Sawyer Hunt is a dedicated and accomplished athletic trainer whose expertise has directly contributed to the success of multiple championship-level collegiate athletic programs.

Since 2024, Hunt has served with Army West Point Athletics, providing comprehensive healthcare services—including rehabilitation, injury prevention, taping, and bracing—for Men’s and Women’s Tennis, the Rabble Rousers (Cheer/Dance), and Football. His role was instrumental in Army Football’s historic first season in the American Athletic Conference, where the team achieved a 12-2 record, won the AAC Championship, and secured a victory in the Independence Bowl. He also played a key role in the Rabble Rousers' 4th-place national finish in their debut D1A GameDay routine, and helped guide the Men’s and Women’s Tennis teams to 4th and 2nd place finishes, respectively, in the Patriot League.

Prior to his time at West Point, Hunt was an athletic training intern for the University of Michigan Football program during their undefeated 2023 season, contributing to the team’s success in winning the Big Ten Championship, Rose Bowl, and the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Hunt earned his Master of Science degree from the University of South Florida, where he split his time between the campus student health center and the cheer and dance teams. His efforts supported the USF Coed Cheer team in earning back-to-back national championships and contributed to another national title with the USF All-Girl team.

He began his career at Kansas State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training with a secondary major in Gerontology. As a student, he gained valuable experience working with K-State Football and Track & Field, and local high school athletic programs.

Sawyer is a native of Cazenovia, NY and currently resides in Middletown, NY with his wife, Mallory, and their dog, Jazz. His professional interests include concussion research, strength & conditioning, and athlete mental health. In his free time, he enjoys collecting vinyl records, weightlifting, and watching movies.
